Shoppers are going wild for a $4 Aldi item they would not usually buy in a supermarket, but “highly recommend”.
When it comes to gnocchi, many people prefer it made and served fresh rather than out of a packet.
However, the German supermarket’s three-minute alternative is doing the rounds on social media with Aldi shoppers revving about how “delicious” and “amazing” it tastes.
“Usually don’t like store bought gnocchi but these are fantastic,” one fan wrote in the Aldi Fans Australia Facebook
“Tossed with pesto, cream and sauteed mushrooms and topped with grated Parmesan. My wife and I finished the whole pack in one go.”
Another shopper said she had to share a snap of the World Kitchen branded gnocchi.
“They are so good. Made from Australian potatoes and eggs. $4. Highly recommend them for a quick delicious dinner. Find them in the fridge section with the fresh pasta.”
The 500g bag, which serves four, takes just three minutes to boil. It is made using four ingredients — flour, potato, egg and salt.
Others also commented about its quality and affordable price.
“Cooked this tonight for my son, must say I’m very impressed,” one woman wrote. “These great and good value also,” another said.
For all the Italians wondering if it’s actually that good. One woman said she made a gnocchi kangaroo ragu dish and to her surprise, it got the tick of approval from her “fussy” Italian son-in-law.
“He made the sausage ragu Monday. I don’t mind Aldi’s fresh pasta,” she added.
It’s not the only $4 Aldi item shoppers have become “obsessed” with.
In August, another fridge item gained traction online and understandably so. It was mouth-watering The Emporium Selection Crumbed Camembert which first hit shelves in 2019 as part of the store’s limited time only product range.
However, it has since returned with new packaging.
In a TikTok that’s been viewed more than 26,000 times @emilyclairwebster shared her review of the cheesy product, describing it as “a great last minute appetiser” given it takes just 10 minutes in the oven.
“It’s so yummy and great to eat on a cold night,” she added.
