A Melbourne property once at the centre of a legal battle between gangland widow Roberta Williams and the ATO has sold to a new owner.

It’s the latest in a series of homes linked to some of the state’s most infamous figures, with others connected to killers Borce Ristevski and Dennis “Mr Death” Allen testing the market in recent months.

The three-bedroom townhouse in Primrose St, Essendon, built by Roberta’s late husband Carl Williams, sold for $1.145m in June and settled last week, according to property records.

How far have home prices recovered since 2022?

A drug kingpin, Williams was murdered in Barwon Prison while serving a non-parole period of 35 years for ordering the murders of three people and conspiracy to murder a fourth.

Prior to its latest sale, in 2018 the Essendon townhouse fetched $808,800 — after the ATO seized and sold it as part of efforts to recoup $960,000 in unpaid taxes and interest payments from the estate of George Williams, Roberta’s father-in-law, following his death.

Roberta, the executor of George’s estate, went to court in an unsuccessful attempt to block the ATO from selling the home, where she and daughter Dhakota had lived.

The two-storey townhouse features a kitchen with granite benchtops, a spa bath in one of the bathrooms and electric security shutters.

McDonald Upton’s Rhys Afford, who had the latest listing, declined to comment.

In a separate matter, an Avondale Heights house where Karen Ristevski and her family lived prior to her June 2016 disappearance is up for rent, after failing to sell this year.

Karen’s husband Borce Ristevski initially told police his wife, 47, had walked out of the family home about 10am the day she disappeared, saying she was going to clear her head.

In 2017, Karen’s body was discovered in Macedon bushland.

Borce was convicted over her death after pleading guilty to manslaughter in 2019.

The Ristevski’s former abode at 23 Oakley Drive had been on the market for more than 320 days, property records show.

The current owners purchased the five-bedroom house from Mr and Mrs Ristevski’s daughter in 2020 and have since extensively renovated, before listing the home with a $2.5m-$2.75m asking price.

However, the price range was reduced to $2m-$2.2m for the abode boasting a theatre room, study and main bedroom with an ensuite, walk-in robe and Melbourne CBD views.

It was made available to rent last month for $1400 per week through Little Real Estate Victoria’s Samuel Chaabani, who declined to comment.

Also the past year, the former Cremorne home of gangland figure Dennis “Mr Death” Allen was listed for rent at $490 a week.

Allen was suspected of murdering three people at the single-fronted brick terrace.

Allen also ran a heroin trafficking operation from the home, where he lived in the 1980s.

In 2020, laws were introduced barring Victorian real estate agents and vendors from “knowingly conceal(ing) any material facts” about properties for sale, including whether they had been the site of a murder, used as a meth lab, or had flammable cladding or asbestos.
