The singer and actor, Jamie Foxx, is in early talks to star in a new film called Happytime Murders. It is a dark, R-rated comedy puppet project, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Brian Henson is set to direct what is being called an action comedy which The Jim Henson Co. has been trying to make since 2008. STX picked up this project last year, intrigued by the idea.

As far as know, Happytime Murders is about humans and puppets coexisting but the puppets are seen as second-class citizens. When the puppet castmembers of 1980’s children’s TV show The Happytime Gang being turning up dead, a LAPD dectective-turned-private eye puppet who is an alcoholic takes on the case with a human as his partner. It definitely sounds very interesting!

Todd Berger and Dee Robertson wrote the first drafts, with the latest script by the Red and Red 2 brothers, Erich and Jon Hoeber.

It is not confirmed whether Foxx will actually appear in this film but who knows? It will be another film in a long line of his upcoming movies. We last saw Foxx in the remake of Annie in 2014 and he is set to appear in Edgar Wright’s latest project, Baby Driver and with more in the pipeline.
