It’s a cult activewear item that promises to give its wearer an instant butt lift.
The popular ‘scrunch bum’ leggings are now available at Kmart and while other brands can cost upwards of $58 a pair, the discount department store is selling them for just $15 a pop.
Available in two shades: brick dust and alloy, Kmart’s Active Womens Youth Scrunch Leggings are made of a moisture-wicking nylon and elastane blend.
There’s also a matching long-sleeve top available for $12 and scrunch bike shorts for $12.
Posting in the Kmart Home Decor & Hacks Australia Facebook group one woman shared her excitement at discovering the leggings at her local Kmart.

“They’re extremely comfortable! Very soft and stretchy,” she wrote.
“I haven’t trained in them yet so I can’t say if it’ll leave sweat marks.
“May I say that it is slightly see through for squats so I do suggest to wear neutral coloured seamless underwear, otherwise it’s good.”
Her review attracted hundreds of comments from other women praising both the leggings – and the shopper – for the incredible fit and being “way cheaper” than other brands.

WHAT ARE ‘SCRUNCH BUM’ LEGGINGS?
First popularised in 2018, scrunch bum leggings feature a ruched seam which runs down the middle of the wearer’s bottom.
The ruching helps give the bum a more defined and lifted look, making it a gym must-have if you’re training for a Kardashian-style rear end.
In Australia, the style was popularised by activewear brand Echt whose scrunch bum leggings cost upwards of $58 and regularly sell out.
Besides Kmart there are plenty of other budget scrunch bum styles on the market, including an Amazon pair which starts at just $11.90 and promises to hide cellulite as well.

“If you have an average butt like me or honestly even a big butt, this works for all butt types get these leggings,” she said.
“My butt does not look like this in other leggings.”
